ang lee to head venice film festival jury

Last week, organizers of the Venice Film Festival announced that acclaimed filmmaker Ang Lee would head the awards jury at this year's festival: Ang Lee to head Venice festival. The 2009 Venice Film Festival is scheduled for September 2-12.

Lee, who was born in Taiwan and moved to the United States in 1978, has won the festival's top prize twice, with Brokeback Mountain taking the Golden Lion in 2005 and Lust, Caution winning in 2007. So I think he's qualified to pick some winners.

He's currently putting the final touches on his latest film, Taking Woodstock, a comedy/drama about the landmark 1969 music festival. He's definitely always doing interesting, diverse work, so I can't wait to check this one out. It's due to be released in August.
