matcha: kampai! sake + tea, june 18

Hey, Bay Area friends... What are you up to Thursday night? Matcha, the Asian Art Museum's bi-monthly mixer series, kicks off the new season this Thursday, June 18 with a sake and tea extravaganza. Cool off and enjoy your summer evening with friends and refreshments:
MATCHA: KAMPAI! Sake + Tea
Thursday, June 18, 5:00-9:00 pm
Asian Art Museum
ONLY $10 (includes admission to Samurai)

Quench your summer thirst with our sake and tea extravaganza!

Savor a sake tasting and multi-media presentation by Kirsten Shilakes, art history lecturer an expert in the visual history of the culinary arts; sip, learn, and chat with Miwa Wang, sake sommelier and manager of True Sake, about the bouquets of sake; discover a Japanese tea ceremony showcasing matcha, a powdered green tea and namesake of our program, and whisk your own; make a tea bowl; stroll the galleries; relax with friends, a sake-tini, and music spun by Mezuki.

See LORDS OF THE SAMURAI in its opening week. This special exhibition of gorgeous artworks-from fierce armor to delicate tea wares-reveals a softer, unknown side to these legendary warriors.
You had me at "sake," but tea ain't bad either. Should be a really nice way to spend a Thursday evening. Music, drinks, art, mingling. Grab some friends and have a good time. For more information, visit the Asian Art Museum website here.
