coming soon: asian american literary review

I recently heard about the launch of the Asian American Literary Review, "a space for writers who consider the designation 'Asian American' a fruitful starting point for artistic vision and community." Published biannually, AALR features fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, comic art, interviews, and book reviews.

In showcasing the work of established and emerging Asian American writers, the journal aims to incubate dialogues and open those dialogues to regional, national, and international audiences of all constituencies.

The first issue, featuring new work by David Mura, Ed Lin, Marie Mutsuki Mockett, Hasanthika Sirisena, David Woo, and Oliver de la Paz, as well as an interview with Karen Tei Yamashita, will appear in April 2010.

It looks like things are still getting off the ground, and they're finalizing the submission guidelines, so they're not accepting any work quite just yet. But they will, eventually. To learn more about the journal, visit the Asian American Literary Review website here.
