apia collective at u.s. social forum 2010

The U.S. Social Forum is happening next week, June 22-26 in Detroit. People will be gathering from all over the country to "build relationships, learn from each other's experiences, and share analysis of the problems our communities face. It will help develop leadership, vision, and strategy needed to realize another world."

Basically, it's a flashpoint for social justice organizations and initiatives to meet, discuss their objectives, brainstorm, etc. Are you going? The APIA Collection wants to make sure our community is represented at the Forum in full force, and have planned a packed schedule of events at the conference.

The big "headliner" event planned for the APIA Collective is a People's Movement Assembly, happening Friday night/Saturday morning at Genesis Lutheran Church, where they'll be gathering to discuss some of the most important questions facing the APIA community.

There will also be a bunch of events taking place throughout the week, including a screening of Who Killed Vincent Chin?, a social hour at the Oslo, and a celebration of Grace Lee Boggs' birthday.

To broadcast and document the APIA Collective's presence at the 2010 U.S Social Forum, they've created a blog. For more information, follow along here. Also take a look at their Facebook event page here. And to learn more about the U.S. Social Forum, go to the website here.
