Just days after the death of Jinghong Kang, we get news of another murder... On Friday, 53-year-old Cristorey Mariano was returning home from his late-night job as a hospital janitor when he was shot and killed in his East Oakland neighborhood: Man slain returning home from work in Oakland.
Cristorey Mariano, 53, was shot as he returned to his home on the 5700 block of East 15th Street shortly before 1:50 a.m., said Officer Jeff Thomason, an Oakland police spokesman.

A neighbor, Rene Poche, 31, said she heard a gunshot, looked outside and saw Mariano "banging on the front door" of his landlord, saying, "Help, help help!"

Mariano staggered and fell down the stairs, she said.

Poche called 911. California Highway Patrol officers in the area heard the gunfire and were the first on the scene, Thomason said.
Mariano, a retired U.S. Navy veteran, worked the night shift at at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, and had been sending money to support his wife and 7-year-old daughter in the Philippines. More here: Man killed in East Oakland as he gets home from work.

o one has been arrested. Police have no suspects, no description of the killer, or even a motive for the shooting. Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to an arrest in the killing.
