call for entries: 11th annual san diego asian film festival

Calling all filmmakers! Our good friends at the San Diego Asian Film Foundation are seeking submissions for their 12th annual festival, happening October 20-28, 2011. They're looking for competitive entries in the categories of narrative feature, narrative short, documentary feature, documentary short, and animation. Unfortunately, you're too late for the early deadline, but you've got another month to hit the regular deadline. Read on for more details:
The San Diego Asian Film Festival is seeking competitive entries in the following categories: narrative feature, narrative short, documentary feature, documentary short, and animation. An independent jury selects winners in each category, along with the Grand Jury award, which are announced at the Festival’s Gala Awards Night on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Festival programmers also select a first-time filmmaker to receive the George C. Lin Emerging Filmmaker Award, which is accompanied by a cash prize.

Films/videos submitted must be directed or principally acted by an artist of Asian or Pacific Islander descent; or whose subject matter relates to Asian or Pacific Islander culture.

Early Deadline: April 1, 2011 ($30 Submission Fee)
Regular Deadline: May 2, 2011 ($40 Submission Fee)
Late Deadline: May 20, 2011 ($65 Submission Fee)
This is easily one of my favorite film festivals. It's just a great event, and I look forward to attending every year. For further information about the call for entries, including rules, entry forms, application, and festival info, go to the SDAFF website here.
