sfiaaff30 official website launch

Bay Area film fans, the countdown has begun. We've got thirty days until the 30th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, running March 8 through 18 at locations in San Francisco, Berkeley and San Jose.

To kick off the countdown, SFIAAFF has unveiled its official festival website and program. We're looking at the thirtieth year of serving up the best of Asian and Asian American cinema, and once again, they've put together one hell of a lineup.

I've already mentioned the Opening Night Gala presentation of Quentin Lee's indie drama White Frog, happening March 8 at the Castro Theatre, followed by a reception at the Asian Art Museum. And that's just the beginning.

I'll be posting lots more programming picks and highlights as we get closer to the festival. With just a cursory glance of the schedule, I'm already super-excited about the Himalayan Youth Voices Project, Surrogate Valentine 2: Daylight Savings, Directions in Sound and Tad Nakamura's feature documentary on ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukoro.

But there's a hell of a lot more where that came from. Make sure you get your tickets when they go on sale for the general public on February 13. For further information, and to view the full schedule of programs and events, go to the SFIAAFF30 website here.
