nate shinagawa is running for congress

This week in New York, Tompkins County Legislator and hospital administrator Nathan Shinagawa announced that he is running to be the Democratic candidate for the proposed 23rd Congressional District seat: County legislator Shinagawa to run for open congressional seat.

Shinagawa, 28, is the third local Democrat to announce a run for the seat. He'll face off against Ithaca lawyer Leslie Danks Burke and Freeville resident Dan Lamb for the congressional seat currently held by Republican Rep. Tom Reed. Here's an excerpt from his campaign's press release making the announcement:
Tompkins County Legislator and hospital administrator Nate Shinagawa has announced today that he is running to be the Democratic Candidate for the proposed 23rd Congressional District in New York. Nate is determined to shatter the gridlock in Washington and make government work again for everyday Americans.

"I first ran for the Tompkins County Legislature to reform government by starting with my own community," said Nate. "Over the past six years, I have built a consistent voting record of supporting investment in infrastructure, promoting quality job growth and conserving the natural beauty of our region. I promise to fight for these same issues, essential to Southern Tier residents, while in Washington."
