tae kwon do instructor accused of sexual contact with minors

Ugh. Disgusting news out of the D.C. area... In Springfield, a martial arts instructor faces charges of inappropriate sexual contact with teenage students who trained at his studio: Tae Kwon Do instructor indicted for inappropriate contact with minors.

38-year-old Quyen Vinh Phan Le, the founder of Phan University of Martial Arts, is accused of luring 15 and 16-year-old girls into sexual relationships while they were enrolled at his school. He faces seven felony charges of taking indecent liberties with minors and possessing child pornography:
The first victim began taking Tae Kwon Do lessons from Le when she was 10 or 11 years old, according to a search warrant. By 15, the girl was training almost everyday at Le’s school and he told her he was attracted to her and she had grown up quite a bit, according to the search warrant.

Le was able to convince the girl that a sexual relationship would help her achieve her goals as a martial artist, according to the search warrant. The girl had sex with Le from the time she was 16, until adulthood, the search warrant says.

Le allegedly began the relationship with the second victim in 2007, according to the search warrant.

Le was able to persuade both girls that he was the key to their Olympic aspirations, according to the search warrant. He also instilled a traditional value system, which placed emphasis on obedience to the Tae Kwon Do master, according to the search warrant.
"Professor Phan," as he referred to himself in a romantic note to one of the girls, sounds like a real winner. A word of advice to the future martial arts champs of the world: if your instructor tells you that they key to achieving your Olympic dreams is to have sex with him, get the hell out of that studio as fast as you can.
