internship opportunity: korematsu institute fall/winter 2012-2013

Our friends at the Fred T. Korematsu Institute for Civil Rights and Education in San Francisco are currently looking for fall/winter 2012-2013 interns. This is an awesome organization doing amazing work in the community. So of course, they need some awesome, amazing people to help out.

This is a hands-on internship where students or recent graduates have the opportunity to help the Korematsu Institute with its Asian American curriculum distribution as well as planning for Fred Korematsu Day events throughout the country.

Here are some more details about the internship:
Our internships offer unique opportunities for students interested in civil rights, education, Asian American Studies & other Ethnic Studies, policy, design, technology, historical research, communications and media, documentary film and multimedia work, community and youth outreach, and event planning.

Requirements:

The program is open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and those who have already completed their studies and are available for this part-time program.

Summer internships: minimum of 2 full days/week or 15 hours/week. Roughly 12-week commitment from May/June to August.
Fall/Winter internships: minimum of 12 hours/week. Because of Fred Korematsu Day every January 30, the fall/winter internships are longer, running from Sept/Oct to mid-February (we understand that students may be out of town during winter holidays).

Please note that start/end dates are relatively flexible to accommodate class schedules. You must be available to work in our San Francisco office during regular hours from 9am-5pm.

We need individuals who are passionate about our cause and committed to following through on every task to contribute to our Institute’s mission. We are looking for extremely organized team members who are skilled at multitasking. Multimedia, web or layout design, and leadership skills are a plus.
The deadline for the fall/winter 2012-2013 internship is Friday, September 14. I've had some luck connecting some cool people with the Korematsu Institute, so don't let me down! For further information about the internship, go here.
