Angry Reader of the Week: Teresa Huang

"I've been described as 'awash in multitudes.'"

Hey, everybody! It is time, once again, to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Teresa Huang.

Who are you?

I am an artist, a romantic, a nerd, a feminist, a philanthropist, and a believer in the universal truth that we are more alike than we are different. I've been described as "awash in multitudes," which I like because it makes me sound complex and interesting. The truth is I'm that person who does too much and really needs to slow down. I'll get to that tomorrow...

What are you?

I am a proud first-generation Taiwanese-American who doesn't spend nearly enough time in the San Gabriel Valley eating Taiwanese food. Who wants to go eat?

Where are you?

I live on the Westside of Los Angeles, which means I'm usually found in my car, driving to meet all the people who don't want to drive to the Westside. (It's really not that far, you guys. The air is fresher and there's great Asian food along Sawtelle.)

Where are you from?

A lovely small town in Western New York, surrounded by rolling green hills and Caucasians. Growing up, the local highlight of the summer was the annual Dairy Festival. There was a parade, a horseshoe-pitching contest, free milk for the town, and yes, they crowned a Dairy Queen. (I miss my sleepy little town. See above re: slowing down...)

What do you do?

Right now, I am a television writer, fiction writer (http://bit.ly/heartborn), in-progress novelist, sometimes playwright, storyteller, on-hiatus actor, and short film producer. I'm currently the writers' assistant for the new CBS drama Wisdom of the Crowd starring Jeremy Piven, though I just wrote my first episode of TV as a solo writer for Superstition on SYFY, premiering in October. In the past, I've also been a children's theater performer, digital marketer for tech startups, birthday party entertainer, non-profit PR coordinator, retail stock clerk, online ad sales analyst, Disneyland performer, seafood restaurant server, daily deals site copywriter, and a professional pit orchestra musician. See? Awash in multitudes...

What are you all about?

Love, love, love. All you need is love. Love makes the world go 'round. Love will find a way. Seriously, there is more than enough love to go around, so go ahead, give and receive love with reckless abandon. You'll never regret it. Wanting to expand love is why I'm passionate about charitable causes like Homeboy Industries and Break the Cycle, which prove that the power of love can heal and transform lives.

What makes you angry?

Haters in every sense of the word, from actively belligerent white supremacists to well-meaning individuals who criticize fat people out of "concern for their health." We are all human beings who deserve love, respect, compassion, and patience. If we shared those four things as freely and abundantly as we shared opinions about the latest episode of GoT, the world would surely be a better place.
