save the date: asian pacific american book festival

Save the date, my friends... next month in Los Angeles, the Asian Pacific American Legal Center presents the very first Asian Pacific American Book Festival, Saturday, May 12th at the Japanese American National Museum and the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy in Little Tokyo. It's a free, all-day celebration of our community's stories, centered around the inaugural theme of "family." There will be book vendors, author presentations and signings, poetry readings, writing workshops, panel discussions, and all sorts of other literary goodness. The full schedule is still forthcoming, but learn more about the basic details (including a running list of sponsors and participants) here. Also download a printable flyer here. I will be participating on the panel titled "Angry Families and Giant Robots: New Generations Redefine American Pop Culture," along with Eric Nakamura and Martin Wong of Giant Robot and Lela Lee of Angry Little Girls fame. It's runs 2:30-3:30pm, so mark your calendars and I'll see you there.
