yes, we're talking about a barn

In Arlington, Washington, a barn on the Nakashima farm—one of the county's first Japanese farming families—is poised to become one of the first on the state's new Heritage Barn Register, and is only one being considered to have been owned by Asian Americans: Barn lost in WWII internment proposed for historic registry. The barn also is being nominated for the National Register of Historic Places. There's quite a bit of history to this particular farm. It was owned by the granddaughter of the founder of Seattle, who transferred ownership of the barn and land to the Nakashimas. When the government ordered the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II, the Nakashimas were given just 10 days to sell more than 1,000 acres of land. It's good to know that the barn might be preserved, and with it, its history. For more information on the Heritage Barn Register, go here.
