zhang ziyi and hugh grant to star in lost for words

Eh. That's my reaction to the news that Zhang Ziyi will star opposite Hugh Grant in the comedy Lost for Words, set to start shooting in September: Grant, Zhang get 'Lost for Words'. Ah, the bumbling Brit Hugh and the lovely Ziyi (presumably not doing any kung fu this time around)—an unlikely combination for rom-com hijinks. That's why it'll be funny! Ha ha.

According to Variety, Grant will play a British film star approached to star in a movie by a Chinese female filmmaker, played by Zhang Ziyi. He falls for the charms of the director's flirtatious translator, but soon realizes the object of his true affection is the director. Unfortunately, his translator is the only person who can communicate his feelings, and she has her own motives. Hilarity ensues.

It'll be directed by Danish arthouse filmmaker Susanne Bier, who directed last year's Things We Lost in the Fire. The screenplay is by Jamie Curtis, whose only writing credit is 1997's Spice World, and Dan Mazer, one of the guys responsible for Borat. Does anyone else think this is already starting to sound like a recipe for disaster?
