So I just read the McG, the cinematic genius behind the Charlie's Angels movies (as well as this summer's upcoming Terminator sequel), is interested in directing a new movie version of 20,000 Leagues of the Sea, based on the classic Jules Verne novel: McG Headed 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea!.
My question is, who will play Captain Nemo, one of the most famous heroes in fiction?
In The Mysterious Island, Nemo is revealed to be of Indian ancestry as Prince Dakkar, the Hindu son of the Raja of Bundelkund. That's right, an Indian dude commanding the Nautilus.
So in this new McG movie, will we actually get to see a South Asian brother as Captain Nemo? My vote is for Naveen Andrews. In The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, he was played by Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah. If they get a white dude to play him in this version, that's not cool. But it won't be very surprising.
