I really like this Los Angeles Times story on Noodle World, an Asian restaurant -- pho, pad see-ew, wonton soup -- in Alhambra, California that has been home to a Bob's Big Boy statue for the last twelve years: Noodle World's homage to its Big Boy roots.
Wait -- Bob's Big Boy, the chubby, wide-eyed hamburger chain mascot... in an Asian restaurant? The story has more to do with the statue as a symbol and connection with a changing community than actual food. Owner John Mekpongsatorm apparently pays $1 a year for the right to display the statue.
