Meet Joan and Howard Ng, who have unexpectedly become minor celebrities in their hometown of Burlington, Ontario. They are, of course, the parents of Konrad Ng, husband of Maya Soetoro-Ng, half-sister of Barack Obama. That makes them part of one of the world's most famous political families: Obama's Canadian family says president is like 'son'.
The connection is close enough to make them pseudo-celebrities, a distinction they're still apparently getting used to. Mr. Ng is a retired former scientist with Environment Canada, while Mrs. Ng is a teacher and owns an art gallery. According to the Ngs, Barack Obama is like a son to them. Yes, an extremely famous, powerful son.
