You might remember the horrific van accident that killed two children and eleven other people in New York's Chinatown last month. 4-year-old Hayley Ng was killed instantly, while 3-year-old Diego Martinez died at the hospital. The two were part of a "daisy chain" of kids walking from a library visit back to their day care program.
The children were run down by a commercial van that was double parked on a busy Chinatown street. The driver apparently got out of the car while it was still in reverse and the engine was running. The van backed over the kids, who were holding hands, killing them both.
Now, Hayley's family is seeking justice and wants someone to answer for her death. They're asking the Manhattan district attorney to press charges against the driver for being reckless and negligent: Victims' Families Want Charges Filed In Van Crash.
The Manhattan District Attorney's Office says that they're still investigating the incident. In the meantime, Hayley's family is asking concerned citizens to call the DA's office the put pressure on the investigation. There's also an online petition here: Investigate the Chinatown van crash that killed two children.
