harvard students campaign for dr. kim

Some news out of Harvard... Students and alumni have organized a campaign to push for Medical School professor Jim Y. Kim to be appointed U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, following Mark Dybul's resignation from the position last month: Students Push Kim for U.S. Office.

With support from the Harvard College Global Health and Aids Coalition, students are encouraging their peers to participate in a call-in and write-in campaign to Senators John F. Kerry and Edward M. Kennedy, the two influential senators who serve on committees that must approve the nomination.

The student-led campaign began when Luke M. Messac, a former HCGHAC member, wrote an open letter to President Obama advocating Kim as the best candidate for the position. Over 700 people, including many students, have signed the petition.

Dr. Kim is a Professor of Medicine and Social Medicine and Chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Chief of the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a former director of the World Health Organization HIV/AIDS department, and... I'll stop right there. This is the right man for the job.
