abercrombie & fitch is hurting and I love it

This article is actually several weeks old, but I just wanted to share because it warms my heart to hear that my least favorite clothing chain, Abercrombie & Fitch, is really really really not doing well in this recession: Abercrombie & Fitch: Worst Recession Brand?

There are struggling apparel retailers... then there's Abercrombie, which has suffered 10 straight months of double-digit same-store-sales declines. In the second quarter of 2009 alone, sales were down 30% across the company's three name outlets: the flagship Abercrombie brand, Hollister, and Ruehl.

This is what happens when you attempt to sell crappy clothes at exorbitant prices, then refuse to lower prices in tough economic times. Hell, who in their right mind wants to pay 70 bucks for a freaking polo? That's not going to happen.

Of course, I've never quite gotten over Abercrombie's racist t-shirt fiasco from back in 2002. Not to mention the company's documented racist hiring practices. So excuse as I take a little pleasure in hearing the brand is suffering. Abercrombie sucks, and nobody's buying.
