I recently came across the blog of David Lee, a college student at the University of Texas at Austin who is taking the idea of the "starving student" to the next level by voluntarily embarking on a very unique, frugal food challenge: $20.09 for 20 Days.
As part of this challenge, he proposed that he could survive for twenty days on just $20.09 worth of food. The blog documents his efforts to prepare and eat food on an extremely limited budget. He's currently on Day 16.
Of course, there are far too many people in the world who have even less to eat and live on. But it does make you wonder -- how much and what kind of food does $20.09 get you? The results have been clever, humorous, and sometimes just kind of sad. Follow the blog here.
