And now, for the semi-weekly 'what-amazing-thing-has-Ichiro-done-now' news... Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki has become the first major league player with at least 200 hits in nine consecutive seasons: Ichiro records ninth straight 200-hit season.
The man does it again. Hit number 200 came as one of Ichiro's speedy specialties -- an infield single -- in the second inning during Seattle's 5-0 win over Texas on Sunday. He had been tied with Hall of Fame outfielder Willie Keeler (1894-1901) at eight season in a row.
That's a 108-year-old record he just broke. This is the second time Ichiro has replaced a Hall of Famer in the Major League record book. The first occurred in 2004, when he accumulated 262 hits, five more than George Sisler had in 1920. More here: Ichiro sets MLB record on infield grounder.
