Another baseball milestone... On Saturday night, Cleveland Indians outfielder Shin-Soo Choo hit a home run in the seventh inning against the Red Sox, becoming the first Asian in Major League history to hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases in a single season: Cleveland Indians' Shin-Soo Choo first Asian big-leaguer to achieve 20-20.
At the All-Star break he had 13 homers, so he says he thought about getting to 20. Then the slugger fell into a bit of a slump for about a month and a half, hitting only one homer in August. But then he hit five in September. And number 20 on Saturday.
Choo is the 12th player in the big leagues to do 20-20 this year. He's the eighth Indian to do it in franchise history. He ended the season hitting .300 (175-for-583) with 20 homers and 86 RBI -- team highs -- as well as 38 doubles and six triples.
But Choo thinks he can do better next season. Grady Sizemore and Joe Carter are the only Indians to do 30-30, but Choo says his goal is to get there. 30-30. I look forward to seeing that.
