the sulu series come to d.c.


My artsy-minded Asian American folks in New York are probably familiar with the Sulu Series. Now, East Coast friends will be pleased to hear that Sulu is expanding its grassroots artists network, providing a home for AAPI-focused spoken word and multidisciplinary artists in Washington D.C.

Sulu DC kicks off this Saturday night, November 21 at St. Stephens Church in Washington D.C. The inaugural evening will feature performances from artists Aparna Nancherla, Taiyo Na, Alex Cena, Adriel Luis and Talu Abu Rahmen. Here are the event details:

Join us for the Launch of Sulu DC, a groundbreaking performance showcase of Asian American & Pacific Islander artists, bringing in top artists from across the country. If you're a fan of AAPI arts, song, dance, film, theatre, poetry or storytelling, you will find a home and community at Sulu DC, every 3rd Saturday of the month.

This is just the beginning -- Sulu DC will host a monthly performance showcase in D.C. every third Saturday of the month. Basicalyly, you can see the Sulu movement every third Friday in Philly, Saturday in D.C., and Sunday in New York.
