You've heard about Evan Low... but did you hear what went down in Atlanta? This week, Alex Wan made history as the first openly gay and Asian American man elected to the Atlanta City Council, representing District 6.
On the same night, winning Georgia's District 58 state House race, Simone Bell became the first African-American lesbian elected to a state legislature in the U.S.: Simone Bell, Alex Wan celebrate victory.
Wan scored a 20-point win over Liz Coyle, 60 to 40 percent. Overall, he received 5,617 votes to Coyle’s 3,741 in Tuesday’s runoff election.
