Don't know if you know, but there's a live-action Thor movie in the works, based on Marvel Comics' hammer-swinging god of thunder superhero. And now, we have news that there's at least one Asian guy in the movie: 'Thor' gets his posse.
The movie, directed by Kenneth Branagh, will include Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano as the Warriors Three, a trio of Asgardian adventurers who fight alongside the Norse god. Thor is played by some dude named Chris Hemsworth.
Asano, best known for starring as Genghis Khan in the Oscar-nominated Mongol, will play Hogun the Grim. I'm not too familiar with the Thor mythology, but based on the illustrations of Hogun, he actually kind of looks like a Genghis Khan warrior figure.
I think Tadanobu Asano is an ultra-cool actor (I've heard him described as the "Japanese Johnny Depp"), and I'm glad he's got a role in a big Hollywood superhero movie, but imagine this role won't be very large. Paramount Pictures is scheduled to release Thor on May 20, 2011.
