dna testing closes decade-old case

This is a crazy story out of New Jersey about body parts -- found ten years ago -- finally identified as the remains of Yeon Sook Choi, who disappeared in 2000. The DNA technology needed for identification wasn't available until recently: Cresskill woman's identified remains help close a decade-old case.

Choi's torso and leg was found in the water at Kill Van Kull dock in Bayonne. The Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office determined in mid-December that the remains were Choi's. This came after the FBI had conducted tests that showed the DNA from the remains were consistent with the DNA of Choi's children

Finally being able to identify Choi brings a sense of closure for the family. I can't imagine what the uncertainty must have been like. A memorial service for her was held last week, on the 10-year anniversary of her disappearance.
