Remember Haisong Jiang? He's the Rutgers graduate student who breached security at Newark Airport last month, causing a big-ass lockdown. In a statement to authorities, he said that all he wanted was to spend time with his girlfriend before she left New Jersey: Accused Newark airport security breacher told police he just wanted to see girlfriend.
That's sweet. Ah, just one last kiss! Too bad his little lovesick security breach shut down the terminal for nearly six hours, caused arrival delays, and forced the rescreening of thousands of passengers -- altogether affecting an estimated 16,000. He was later arrested and charged with defiant trespass.
Jiang appeared in court this week, pleading not guilty: Newark Airport's Hopeless Romantic Pleads Not Guilty. It's still a pretty low level offense, punishable by 30 days in jail and $500 in fines. More than anything else, the guy has been ridiculed as a love fool. More here: A Court Date After a Kiss, and Chaos, at Newark.
