a spotlight on america's best dance crew's poreotix

Have you been watching America's Best Dance Crew. I missed last week. Here's a short blog post from The Orange County Register on the guys from Poreotix, who are representing for the O.C. and are still in it to win it: O.C. guys compete on 'America's Best Dance Crew'
Poreotix is the name of the Westminster-based crew of six guys. Poreotix impressed the judges at the Los Angeles auditions late last year. The group flew through the regional competitions and has survived four weeks without ever being in the bottom three. Judging is based on viewer calls and, in some cases, judges' votes for elimination. The winner of the show gets $100,000, plus the title of "America's Best Dance Crew."

The members of Poreotix are Lawrence Devera, Chad Mayate, Can Nguyen, Charles Nguyen, Matt Nguyen (none of them are related) and Justin Valles.

Here's a description of the dance crew, according to MTV: "These shaded showmen inspired by robots aim to entertain the dance world with their unexpected humor and revolutionary mixed style. Over the last couple of years, Poreotix has laboriously honed their craft of popping and robotic movement and are at the top of their game. The way in which the crew blends the different dance styles gives them a distinctive animated look, and their integration of humor makes their performances fiercely entertaining.

"Poreotix are true showmen and never perform without their trademark shades. They use them as a tool to hide emotion so they can provide unexpected twists in their routine, taking the audience from serious to funny without tipping their hand."
These guys are a bunch of hams, which would be kind of annoying if they weren't so damn good. They're awesome showmen, and just tons of fun to watch. This week, their challenge is to dance to Usher's "Yeah." Catch it tonight on MTV, and let's hope they make it another week!
