queens assault victim dies

According to police, 23-year-old Yu Yau, the Queens woman who was brutally beaten with a pipe and sexually assaulted last Sunday, died over the weekend when she was taken off life support: Beaten, raped Queens gal dies.
The 23-year-old victim, Yu Yau -- who came to New York from China two months ago -- was taken off life support at New York Hospital, police said.

Cops arrested an intoxicated Carlos Salazar Cruz after the brutal attack on Main Street and 41st Road in Flushing early last Sunday.

The suspect was charged with attempted murder, but new charges are now pending because of Yau's death, police said.

Cruz was allegedly caught on surveillance video moments after the vicious attack swinging the weapon as he walked away from his victim, WNYW/Channel 5 reported.
