spare us: shyamalan already talking last airbender sequel

Oh no. You'd think after the critical asskicking M. Night Shyamalan and The Last Airbender have received since the movie opened, you'd think they'd want to keep quiet about a followup for the time being, but they're apparently already talking sequel: Paramount and Shyamalan Readying 'Airbender' Sequel?
According to the source, Shyamalan is prepared to make not one, but two more Airbender films to round out another trilogy for the franchise loving studio. Says the filmmaker: "I do [have things mapped out]. The third is more ambiguous, but the second one, I've written a draft that I'm really happy with and is darker and richer, and it has a wonderful antagonist in it in Azula, who's kind of like our only real, pure antagonist in the series, so I’m excited about that."

Apparently, even fan favorite character Azula will not be safe from the hands of Shyamalan, who has had to shoulder most of the blame for Airbender's critical annihilation. The interview also includes information about deleted scenes from the film that will not make it to the DVD, because he intends to use them in the sequel. Check out the interview below for more information, and please, try not to smash your monitor in an attempt to take out your frustration with the director.
The damage has been done. Can things really get any worse than The Last Airbender? Do we really want to find out? Given the whitewashed casting, I was already over and done with Shyamalan's version of the adaptation. I can only hope someone else will remake, revamp, and try it all over again in 10-15 years.
