angry reader of the week: eric ignacio

Hey there. It is time for another Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is "Pinoy production guy" Eric Ignacio.

Who are you?
I'm Eric Ignacio, a Bay Area transplant living in Los Angeles.

What are you?
I'm just a Pinoy production guy navigating his way through the wacky world of entertainment.

Where are you?
Culver City, CA

Where are you from?
To make a long story short, I'm a U.S Navy Brat (a good chunk of you might know that that means). My dad was in the U.S Navy so I pretty much moved all over the place growing up. I was born in Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan, then moved every few years - Hawaii, Alaska, Philippines, back to Japan, then ended up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I went to San Francisco State University and graduated with a BA in Asian American Studies.

What do you do?
I currently work at an advertising agency as a cameraman/editor (the 9am to..um..9pm "pay the bills" job), but during the late nights and weekends, I pretty much hop on projects that are fun to me. You can check some of them out on www.eignaciofilms.com/blog.

What are you all about?
I'm really, really, really quiet. I've never been that great at public speaking. BUT if you hand me a camera, laptop, and editing software...I know I can make a lot of noise. I LOVE collaborating with friends who tackle social/political issues or just creating projects that represent Asian Americans in a cool way. I'm all over the place…TV, film, docs, news, music, advertising, etc. I'm always up for new challenges and meeting good people who share the same interests. Some people know me as "DJ QBert's tour cameraman/editor", or "that old school guy from ABS-CBNI and 360", or "that guy who shoots some of those 18mmw sketches". When it comes down to it, I've just been pretty lucky to work with a lot of good folks.

What makes you angry?
Today, I told one of my best friends that I was asked to be the Angry Reader of the Week.

"What!?! You're not an angry person at all!" I try to be pretty positive on a lot of things, but when I do get pissed, you'll definitely know it. That's when I start cranking out videos like this with friends: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0bhZXUq0Hw

Folks (including Asians) sometimes chuckle and ask "Why do you do so many Asian/Asian American themed projects? There's no money in it."
Answer: "Because I love doing it."
