um, excuse me, but who the hell called sharron angle nevada's "first asian legislator"?

This is kind of baffling... Nevada Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle was recently speaking to a group of Hispanic students when she seemed to experience what I like to describe as fuzzy color troubles: Angle to Latino teens: 'You look a little more Asian to me'.

Dude. Why would you make such a comment to the Hispanic Student Union? Was it a joke? Was she truly confused by their ambiguous ethnic looks? Maybe she really wanted them to be Asian. I mean, it sounds like she's actually trying to convince them that they are.

Or maybe she thinks she's a bit of an authority on the matter:
"So that's what we want is a secure and sovereign nation and, you know, I don't know that all of you are Latino. Some of you look a little more Asian to me. I don't know that. [Note: it's the Hispanic Student Union. The whole room is Hispanic teenagers.] What we know, what we know about ourselves is that we are a melting pot in this country. My grandchildren are evidence of that. I'm evidence of that. I've been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly."
Wait. What? What did she say in that last part? "I've been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly." Funny, you don't look Asian to me. I would like to know who exactly called Sharon Angle the first Asian legislator. Seriously -- who? Some drunk guy in a bar? More here, with video: Angle to Hispanic children: "Some of you look a little more Asian to me.".

UPDATE: Here's an another article with some more background on Sharon Angle's troublesome history mis-identifying people: Sharron Angle, David Vitter's illegal aliens not quite illegal, photographer says.

UPDATE: Sharron Angle's campaign responds to the video of her making the Hispanic/Asian remarks: Angle campaign responds to video of candidate and Asian remarks: Reid playing racial politics. If I'm reading it correctly, she saying it's her opponent Harry Reid's fault that she made such idiotic remarks. I see.
