the walking dead premieres october 31

I don't know about you, but the show I've been most looking forward to is AMC's The Walking Dead. Adapted from the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, it tells the story of a group of people trying to survive in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse. I'm not crazy about zombie movies, and I'm not even much of a horror fan, but I got a chance to watch the first two episodes of The Walking Dead last week, and it's awesome. Here's the 30-second trailer:

And if you've got a moment, here's a 17-minute documentary featurette on the making of The Walking Dead.

If zombies are your thing, you're going to love it. Even if zombies are not your thing, you might actually dig it. The scope and scale of this production is tremendous, and while we've seen plenty of zombie narratives before, the characters and situations are really compelling. It's gross and extremely gory, but I can't wait to see where it goes.

Speaking of characters, it's definitely worth noting that Steven Yeun is in the cast of Glenn, one of the survivors. He's not in the premiere episode, but he shows up in the second episode and has a pretty significant role amongst the group. Here's Steven appearing on G4's Attack of the Show the other day:

There's an awesome shot of his parents during the interview. Not only is a Steven a dead ringer for the way Glenn is drawn in the comic book, he gets to play a pretty cool character -- a regular guy trying to survive in this zombiefied world. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him. Here's another interview: The Zombie Crawl: The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun on Being Glenn.

The Walking Dead premieres Sunday, October 31 on AMC.
