Our good friends at Visual Communications in Los Angeles invite up-and-coming filmmakers to apply for the 2011-2012 Armed With A Camera Fellowship.
Up to ten emerging media artists will be selected for the AWC Fellowship and be awarded $500 to complete a five-minute digital video. AWC Fellows also receive artist mentorship and peer feedback sessions, scholarship to VC Academy classes, and free equipment rentals and facilities usage.
Completed works from the fellowship will be presented in a special program at the 2012 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.
Eligible applicants must be of Asian Pacific descent, 30 years or younger in the year 2012, residents of California and have had previous work in The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival or any other VC exhibition and/or any Film Festival (this may include on-campus student festivals).
If accepted, Fellows must be able to attend mandatory meetings and workshops in Los Angeles. Women, South Asian and Southeast Asian filmmakers are highly encouraged to apply to the AWC Fellowship. If you're not sure of your eligibility, please contact Kennedy Kabasares at kennedy@vconline.org.
The deadline to apply to the fellowship is July 29, 2011. This is a great program for relatively new filmmakers hoping to fine-tune their skills under the tutelage of some experienced mentors.
