register for the advancing justice conference 2011


Heads up. Registration is currently open for the 2011 Advancing Justice Conference, a national civil rights and social justice conference that aims to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders in one place to address a broad range of issues facing the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

Hosted by the Asian Law Caucus, it's happening October 27-28 in San Francisco. This year's conference will be paying tribute to the rich history of activism that makes the Bay Area such a special place for all communities, but especially Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Holla.

This year's conference will include workshops on:

  - Civil and Human Rights
  - Capacity Building
  - Youth Leadership & Community Organizing
  - Immigrant Integration & Civic Participation.

There will also be plenary sessions focusing on veteran Asian American activists, emerging geographic Asian American communities, social entrepeneurship, Pacific Islanders, and cross-racial alliance building.

Register for the conference here. A limited number of scholarships and travel stipends are available to conference participants. Factors taken into consideration include: financial need, geography, ethnic diversity, and area of expertise. Apply for the stipend here. The conference is also looking for community co-sponsors.
