the first-ever kollaboration seattle film festival

This is something new from the Kollaboration movement... Kollaboration Seattle recently announced its first ever Kollaboration Seattle Film Festival-- a competition, really -- where filmmakers in the Northwest region will be tasked with creating a short film showcasing Asian American talent.

Competitors will be given a specific parameters: a character, a prop, and a line to create a seven-minute short within a three-week deadline. The top 10 finalists will have the opportunity to see their films on the big screen at the Kollaboration Seattle Film Festival on September 14. Here are a few more details:
Filmmaking is among one of the fields in entertainment where APIs are not often recognized. With this in mind, Kollaboration Seattle Film Festival will be the first attempt among all Kollaboration cities to broaden our platform. Through this film festival, we hope to provide a fun experience for filmmakers of all kinds of background and expertise in the Northwest region to create a short film featuring Asian American talents on screen.

Similar to the "48 Hour Film Project", competitors will be given a character, a prop, and a line to create a maximum seven-minute short within three weeks’ time. The top 10 finalists will have the opportunity to see their films on the big screen at the Kollaboration Seattle Film Festival held on September 14, 2011 at the AMC Pacific Place in downtown Seattle. Doors will open at 6:30pm and the festival will be held from 7–10pm. The final winner will receive the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium and also have their film screened at Kollaboration Seattle’s main show.
Cool to see Kollaboration branching out into other media. For further information about the competition, including rules and regulations, and how to apply, go to the Kollaboration Seattle Film Festival website here.

UPDATE: Hold up. I've just been informed that the first ever Kollaboration Seattle Film Festival has postponed until a later, undetermined date:
Due to logistics and time constraints, Kollaboration Seattle will be postponing the first Kollaboration Seattle Film Festival, originally scheduled to take place on September 14th at AMC Pacific Place in downtown Seattle.

Kollaboration Seattle still intends to hold the film festival at a date to be determined later.
Stay tuned, I guess.
