angry reader of the week: zandi de jesus

What's up, good people. It's time to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Zandi De Jesus, who could use your support.

Who are you?
Zandi De Jesus. 3rd daughter in a family of 5 girls.

What are you?
I'm a singer with a great online fan-base at www.youtube.com/zsos. I'm an actor who's played Marcy Park in the national tour of the Tony award-winning Broadway musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I'm a mom to 2 year old Maxwell Namkung and a wife to Jin Namkung. And most recently, I'm a 27 year old breast cancer warrior who was diagnosed on September 15th with Stage 3 breast cancer.

Where are you?
Right now, I'm at home with my Max in West Los Angeles watching him play with his Thomas and Friends trains. I've spent a lot of time at home since I've diagnosed -- mostly blogging about my cancer journey at http://onceuponaboob.wordpress.com.

Where are you from?
I was born in LA and have lived here almost all my life. I spent a good chunk of my life in San Diego while going to school at UC San Diego and then later spent a little less than a year living in New York while trying to pursue my theatre career.

What do you do?
I work at a physical therapy clinic, but during this time off work, I've been working on an album to sell to raise money for my cancer treatment and recovery. I'm also working with my friends from Chaos Theory Music to put together a fundraiser on December 10th in Koreatown at Cafe Bleu. We're going to be featuring amazing Asian American artists like Andrew Figueroa Chiang, Jane Lui, Alfa, and Sam Kang.

What are you all about?
I am all about positivity and gratitude. Being diagnosed with breast cancer at 27 has really taught me to appreciate the blessings in life. I'm thankful for all my friends and family who have really shown me their love and support through all of this. I've enjoyed blogging about my cancer journey at http://onceuponaboob.wordpress and it really helps me try to find the positive things about each bump in the road that I encounter.

What makes you angry?
Cancer makes me angry! It doesn't care who you are, how old you are, or how healthy you are. There are so many people out there affected by it and it's still such a mystery as to why it happens or how to cure it. There are so many different types and so many people have lost the battle against their cancer. On a more positive note, I am thankful that my cancer is responding to treatment and that I have so many people praying and rooting for me to make it through this.
