angry reader of the week: brian yang
Okay folks. It is time to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is the ambidextrous Brian Yang.
Who are you?
Brian, not Brain, Yang. I have one, but sometimes it don't work so well.
What are you?
An ambidextrous Chinese-American.
Where are you?
Right now, Salt Lake City. Yesterday, Las Vegas. Monday, LA. Last weekend, NYC. March, Hawaii. I get around, but it's not always like this, and believe me, it is not glamorous. Things are just a little bit (I'm leaving the L out on purpose) insane. Usually I'm in LA or New York. Sometimes Shanghai, Hong Kong, or Taipei. I'm hoping to go to Africa this summer. In fact, right now I'm with my friend from Utah who lives in Africa but is visiting home. He's talking me into the idea. Wait, what was your question again?
Where are you from?
I was born in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes are winning it all this year, btw. Raised in the Bay Area. Go Bears! But go Bucks more! Sometimes, I think about how if my dad had immigrated to Germany instead of Ohio, that I'd be an ambidextrous German-Chinese. But then, he wouldn't have married my mom since they hitched up in the States and thus I wouldn't have been created.
What do you do?
I am a producer of various things. Sometimes it's a film, sometimes it's a live event, sometimes it's a basketball league. As of late, it's mostly been film stuff. I'm on the relatively new end of it all, but man I love it. I love it a lot. I'm an actor too. I started acting at Cal and I'd just like to point out that from that fine Dramatic Arts Academy, out came people such as John Cho and Will Yun Lee. I was once in a movie where I got stabbed in the face with a chopstick in front of John and now I occassionally get to be in the same show with Will on Hawaii 5-0. We have yet to see each other on the island yet but I'm hoping to work a scene with one of People's Most Beautiful People one day.
What are you all about?
I'm all about chasing your dreams. I'll be doing it forever till the end. I'm also into this China thing. I've been spending significant time there since 2008 and I think the place has a lot of growing to do, but I love it. I thought about moving there in 2010 after spending 6 months there in 2009. 2011 sorta just happened and kept me more Stateside and I haven't gotten to go back in awhile like I had gotten used to, but I'll be back. I must.
What makes you angry?
Laziness. People who don't respond to your important emails. I should write important things on their Facebook wall to get a response. And when the Steelers lose, forget about it. Don't talk to me for days. Unless you feed me spam.
