cyclist could face manslaughter charges in fatal bike crash

This awful story about a recent fatal bicycle accident in San Francisco has sparked quite a bit of controversy on the web: Cyclist accident makes waves on the Web.

71-year-old Sutchi Hui was crossing the busy intersection at Market and Castro last month when he was struck by a man riding a bike. He died at the hospital. The cyclist, Chris Bucchere, later posted on a public Google group identifying himself as the rider.

Accident or not, this man's action had deadly consequences. Doesn't Mr. Hui deserve some kind of justice? Sources say Bucchere will likely face charges, which could include vehicular manslaughter:
The incident is making waves on the blog-o-sphere as readers weigh in on the cyclist's story. The post, which has since been removed from the forum, read in part, "The light turned yellow as I was approaching the intersection, but I was already way too committed to stop. The light turned red as I was cruising through the middle of the intersection and then, almost instantly, the southern crosswalk on Market and Castro filled up with people coming from both directions... so, in a nutshell, blammo."

The rider goes on, "Apparently I hit a 71-year-old male pedestrian and he ended up in the ICU with pretty serious head injuries. I really hope he ends up OK."
He did not end up okay. I'm not a bike rider, but it sounds like Bucchere was being pretty reckless. And commenters on blogs and forums have it pretty clear they think so too. Meanwhile, Bucchere has apparently hired a defense attorney: Chris Bucchere said to run red lights before crash.
