Starting Friday, May 4, Asian Americans United and the Philadelphia Folklore Project present "We Cannot Keep Silent," an exhibit curating the events of December 2009, when dozens of Asian immigrant students boycotted their high school and launched a civil rights campaign to provide a safe educational environment. In December 2009, dozens of Asian immigrant students boycotted their high school and launched a civil rights campaign around a district’s responsibility to provide a safe educational climate.

"We Cannot Keep Silent" was curated by Asian Americans United in partnership with BPSOS-Delaware Valley, Victim/Witness Services of South Philadelphia, the Asian Student Association of Philadelphia, and the student boycotters of South Philadelphia High.

The exhibit highlights voices from a campaign that sought educational justice in a school struggling with violence and racial discord.

Featuring photographs by Harvey Finkle and Kathy Shimizu.

The exhibit will be open through August 31, 2012.
The exhibit runs until August 31. The event is free and open to the public.
