angry reader of the week: nicki sun

Hello! It's time to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Nicki Sun.

Who are you?
Hello Sunshines! My name is Nicki Sun and I am a self-made multimedia host and channel, producer, entrepreneur, and entertainer dedicated to spotlighting underrepresented communities in entertainment, while also strengthening awareness of issues, such as the recruitment of more ethnic bone marrow donors and child sex trafficking.

What are you?
This question actually bugs me when people use it for the common purposes of (politely?) asking about my race and ethnicity. Because if I don't feel like putting them through the guessing game and actually tell them "what" I am, they offend me more by disagreeing and debating me. "Really? You look like you have some White in you." Seriously, what is that supposed to mean?

But since I can interpret this question the way I see fit...

I am a chocolate chip twinkie, accents and languages connoisseur, marathon eater, and dougie-ing dance machine!

I am a BadA$$ tomboy turned talk show talent. A Jill of all Trades drawing from my many ventures in sports, music, theatre, leadership, and all things film production and media related.

A strong woman striving to tell the stories of the untold, one interview at a time.

Where are you?
You can find me rising with the sun and sleeping with the owls (which is never!). I am currently editing the night away on Final Cut Pro in my room while switching back and forth to answer these questions. When I'm not traveling almost every week to cover an event, I interact and engage locally to provide content globally, so everywhere some might say. Thank you interwebs!

Where are you from?
Bay AREAAAAAAAAAA!

What do you do?
That's a good question -- sometimes I don't even know. My work has taken me to Host and/or produce segments throughout the U.S. as well as Canada and China. Some notable collaborations:

- Traveling and documenting a culinary food trip to China and Hong Kong with Chef Martin Yan

- Co-Hosting Kollaboration SF2 in my hometown

- Producing segments and shows at Myx TV (currently my FT job). I have worked hard to bring over 100 different artists in the APA community to the channel so far.

- Writing the cover story on Far East Movement for Hyphen Magazine's Issue 22

- Guest hosting on KOFY TV for two months thanks to the support of the community, and

- Producing content for the CW Bay Area television station

When not collaborating with other organizations, I produce content for my own site (nickisun.com) and YouTube channel (youtube.com/nickisun). I continue to seek emerging artists and inspiring individuals to interview for my online show, "Now You Know." Through this show, I hope to enlighten and inspire viewers not only to learn about our community, but to pursue their passions as well. Tagline: "If you didn't know, NOW you KNOW!"

What are you all about?
I'm all about people -- their stories and creating media with a positive and uplifting message. I'm about connecting and building our community. And I strive to be a positive representation in and of our community.

What makes you angry?
Ignorance, being underestimated, cancer, child sex-trafficking, half-eaten plates of food, and anytime you mess with my family.
