meet 10-year-old spencer yee, international archery champ

Archery is kind of hot right now. Among the coolest pop culture characters wielding a bow, you've got Katniss from The Hunger Games, Hawkeye in The Avengers, Merida in Pixar's Brave, Oliver Queen in the upcoming CW series Arrow... and now this kid: 10-year-old archer dominates sport.

10-year-old Spencer Yee of Arizona recently took gold at the Pan Am Archery Championships in El Salvador -- the youngest person ever to be crowned champ. He's a little badass with a bow, and he's not even in middle school yet:
Traveling with Team USA, Spencer actually came back with a half dozen medals. He dominated the Cadet Division, which is mostly filled with teenagers 15 to 17 years old.

Spencer smiles as he talks about his bigger opponents.

"It feels good to shoot with older kids that I know I can match up with," he said.

His dad quickly points out Spencer does more than just match up with the older generation.

"He out-shoots his dad, he out-shoots his coach, he has achieved quite a bit for the tender age of 10," Steve said.
The kid is an international champ, but he's actually too young to compete Olympics -- the minimum age is 14. So he's got some time to learn how to shoot with a traditional recurve bow... whatever the heck that means. More here: Spencer Yee, 10-year-old archer, is already an international champion.
