aaldef 2013 public interest legal fellowships

Another opportunity to get involved with the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund... AALDEF is looking for applicants to submit proposals for Skadden or Equal Justice Works fellowships, to begin fall 2013.

They are specifically seeking to sponsor law school graduates to work with AALDEF's Anti-Trafficking Initiative, which provides legal representation to trafficked women and youth workers. Here's some more information about the fellowship:

2013 Public Interest Legal Fellowships

The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF), a New York-based national organization, invites applicants to submit proposals for Skadden or Equal Justice Works fellowships, to begin fall 2013.

AALDEF, founded in 1974, promotes and protects the civil rights of Asian Americans through litigation, advocacy, and community education. AALDEF has a 21-person staff and is supported by foundations, individual contributions and special events. We are seeking to sponsor law graduates to work specifically with our Anti-Trafficking Initiative, which provides legal representation to trafficked women and youth workers.For more information about our work to end human trafficking, see http://aaldef.org/programs/anti-trafficking-initiative/.

Qualifications:

* Law school graduate by spring 2013
* Excellent legal research and writing skills
* Knowledge of human trafficking, labor and employment law, and human rights issues
* Spoken fluency in an Asian language is preferred
* Familiarity with Asian American community issues preferred

Salary: Based on fellowship award amount.
