This inspiring image of Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang has stuck with me all day:
Hurdler Falls Clutching His Achilles, Refuses To Quit.
Liu, who won gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics, found himself on the ground after falling over a hurdle during a qualifying heat for the Men's 110m Hurdles. Dreams dashed, nursing an aggravated achilles and hopping on one leg, he could have packed it up and got the hell out of there, but what happened next got me kind of choked up:
Liu Xiang Injured In Prelims, Out Of 110m Hurdles.
Way to finish like a true champion. There has been no shortage of inspirational stories and moments during these Olympic games. And man, I'm not going to lie -- this one brought a few tears to my eyes.
