In Melbourne, a Korean student says he was the victim of a racist knife attack by a group of teenagers who cut off his finger: Korean Loses Finger in Racist Attack in Australia.The student, identified only as "Jang," was walking through a park with a friend when a group of teenagers asked him for a cigarette. When he refused, the group assaulted him, calling him racial slurs and cutting him a knife. Jang ended up losing a finger:
The 33-year-old man, identified only by his last name Jang, reported to the Korean Consulate in Melbourne that he fell victim to a knife attack by a group of teenagers on Nov. 5 while walking through a park near his home with a Korean friend.You read that right -- police only arrested one of the teens and let the others go. Just harmless rowdy teenage behavior, right? This is just one of several recent reports of racially motivated violence in Australia. Does a dude have to get killed for authorities to give a crap?
He said the teenagers asked him for a cigarette, and when he refused started assaulting him and shouting, "Fucking Chinese."
And one of them cut off his finger with a knife, Jang said. He said police only arrested one of them and let the others go.
Jang lost consciousness in the attack and was taken to an emergency room and underwent surgery to reattach the severed finger.
