what to read: derek kirk kim's tune: vanishing point

All right! At long last, award-winning comic artist Derek Kirk Kim's long-awaited sci-fi romantic comedy graphic novel Tune: Vanishing Point is now available on bookstore shelves. A book with a spine and pages and everything.

Several years in the making, Derek's been publishing his offbeat comic on the web for a looooong time. And now, the first volume has been collected on paperback by First Second. Here's the description:

Andy's life is going nowhere, fast. He left art school with his career all worked out ahead of time, but ...to say it didn't work out is the understatement of the century. Unemployed and living with his overbearing parents, Andy struggles to keep sight of the lofty goals that once drove him. But it's hard, even when he reconnects with his old art school crush, Yumi.

Things look better, briefly, with Yumi back in the picture and an actual job offer on the table. But then Andy takes the job offer--to work at a zoo--and finds himself in an alternate dimension. The zoo? Is run by aliens. The exhibit? Is him.
You can actually read the first two volumes of Tune online in their entirety. I hadn't been following it regularly, but I recently made the effort to catch up and I'm making my way through. And then I'll probably end up buying the paperback on top of that. I'm just big fan of Derek's work.
