Angry Reader of the Week: Patty Lee
Once again, it is time for you to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Patty Lee.
Who are you?
My name is Patty Lee, daughter of a wonderful mom and dad and youngest awesome sister to two pretty cool older brothers. I am a 2nd generation Korean American.
What are you?
I am a perfect mix of the love and experiences i've obtained thus far in my life. I'm a proud Asian American female who knows how to rock the latest clothing trend.
Where are you?
I live in between Orange County, CA and Washington, D.C. As I type, i'm in the real OC. :)
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in OC, Laguna Hills, CA. However, I have made the world my home traveling but i've lived in Alphabet City, Manhattan and Park Slope, Brooklyn to Washington, D.C and now back to Orange County.
What do you do?
My day job is with the government as an employment lawyer and traveling all over the world. However, I spend a lot of my time currently dreaming about my dream job in SF and tryign to make that happen. To nurture both sides of my brain; I'm involved and volunteer with a number of Asian American arts organizations. I love to be involved in the creative aspect of things. I worked with Kollaboration, D.C. and DC APA Film Festival while I was living in D.C. I also volunteered with the APALRC on my free days on their language hotline. Now that I am back in OC/LA, I am now the General Counsel for Project by Project, a National Asian American non-profit organization founded in NY in 1998 by Asian American professionals and has expanded to LA and SF. We are a non-profit of volunteers from a variety backgrounds that picks another existing non-profit to benefit for a full year of fundraising, increasing their volunteer base, and spreading awareness of their cause. Coincidentally this year our theme is THE ARTS! Our partner organization is East West Players and our big fundraiser of the year is Plate by Plate, which is the largest tasting benefit put on by an API organization in the entire nation (with regards to volume of participating vendors, attendees, etc.). This year LA's Plate by Plate is at Vibiana on August 3, 2013. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to East West Players. Please come out and support! :) Its a perfect combination of food, networking, and having a good time!
What are you all about?
I am all about compassion and kindness, working with others, following your passion and dreams, God, and family. I am all about speaking for others who can't speak for themselves. Promoting arts and creativity in all aspects of life. I am all about meeting people and making connections on different levels. I am all about helping others communicate and work with one another when conflicts arise. I am all about laughing and not taking things so seriously when the situation calls for it. I am all about beautiful colors, spaces, art, people, clothing, and having fun. I am all about traveling and loving food and loving life!
What makes you angry?
People who make assumptions about others, intolerance, arrogance and self-entitlement. My friend likes to say that the "angry korean" in me comes out when I come across people who are rude and mean for no reason and who bully and put down others for their own enjoyment to make themselves feel better. It makes me angry to see people put themselves down and not open themselves to opportunities because they disqualify themselves. Lots of things make me angry but I generally try to rise above it, invest and promote in the future awesomeness of different projects, people, and places.
