CAAMFest San Jose, August 16-18



Bay Area film fans! This is for all my people in the South Bay... Our friends at the Center for Asian American Media present CAAMFest San Jose, three days of film premieres, social events and special programs spotlighting the creativity and vitality of Asian Americans in San Jose and Silicon Valley.

CAAMFest San Jose opens on Friday, August 16, with the San Jose film premiere of Arvin Chen's Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? at Camera 3 Cinema followed by the Opening Night Party at the San Jose Museum of Art. Here's a brief overview of some of the festival's program highlights:

Opening Night

Program highlights include Friday night's San Jose premiere of Arvin Chen's WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW? at Camera 3 Cinema at 6:30PM, followed by an Opening Night Party at 9:00PM at the San Jose Museum of Art. WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW? is a Taiwanese comedy about a gay man struggling to keep his sister's engagement together even as his own marriage to a woman starts to come undone. Chen, a San Jose native, will be in attendance from Taipei.

Centerpiece Presentation

On Saturday evening at 6:30 PM at the Camera 3 Cinema, ten Grandriders, members of a Taiwanese motorcycle club with an average age of 82, will present GO GRANDRIDERS. Director Hua Tien-hau and Producer Ben Tsiang will join the Grandriders for what promises to be an unforgettable night that will launch the Grandriders' motorcycle tour of the California Coast.

Closing Night

The Closing Presentation is the West Coast premiere of CROCODILE IN THE YANGTZE, the story of Alibaba founder Jack Ma's meteoric rise, as told by one of his first employees, Director Porter Erisman. Erisman will be in attendance from China.

Free Special Presentation

CAAMFest San Jose is delighted to present a free screening of JAKE SHIMABUKURO: LIFE ON FOUR STRINGS, a family friendly film portraying the inspiring and inventive musician whose talent transformed previous notions of the ukulele's potential. This CAAM production will screen on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM at the Japanese American Museum of San Jose. Museum admission is required.

Future's Calling Shorts Program

Saturday's 2:15PM FUTURE'S CALLING Shorts Program includes works from local filmmakers: Michelle Ikemoto, director of TULE LAKE; Leslie Tai, director of GRAVE GOODS; James Shih, director of DISTANCE; Laura Green, director of LADY RAZORBACKS.
