Heads up, New York! This Saturday, April 26, is the 8th Annual New York City Asian American Student Conference. The theme this years is "Roots," focusing on how history shapes our contemporary understandings of the APA community. Network and workshop with locally based speakers and performers and help build solidarity and initiative both within the APA community and beyond. Here's more info:

The New York City Asian American Student Conference (NYCAASC) is a free, all-day, student-run conference on Saturday, April 26th, bringing together youth in the metropolitan area and providing a space to discuss racial and sociopolitical matters pertaining Asian/Pacific/America through a series of inspiring and empowering workshops.

Here's why you should come to NYCAASC:

+ GARY Y. OKIHIRO, a professor of international and public affairs and the founding director of the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race at Columbia University, is this year's KEYNOTE speaker
+ MC JIN, a hip-hop artist, television host, and actor, will speaking and leading us into the day of the conference!
+ We've got over a DOZEN WORKSHOPS and BREAK OUT GROUPS where you'll get exciting networking opportunities with conference speakers and student attendees

+ Awesome local performers will be showing off their talent from an Asian American punk-hip hop duo to a nationally ranked beatboxer
